Common ORE application errors

Your ORE application will be processed quicker if you complete the form correctly and follow the guidance provided. Use the checklist to ensure you have included all supporting documents. 

1. Your name must be the same on all documents

Your name must be the exactly the same on your ORE Application and all supporting documents. You will need to provide an affidavit or statutory declaration if there are any variations in your name, including where initials or names that appear on some documentation and not on others. It will need to be witnessed by a solicitor or notary public. 

The declaration must list all the variations in your name, and you must swear under oath that all the names listed relate to you and all of your supporting documents refers to you.

2. Signed and dated within three months 

You need to sign ‘Section 2: Declaration’ before your character referee signs ‘Section 6: Clinical experience reference’.

All of the following sections must be signed and dated within three months of us receiving your application:

  • Section 2: Declaration
  • Section 5: Character reference
  • Section 6: Clinical experience reference (undergraduate clinical references must also be stamped by the dean or the dean’s office at your university). 

Your Certificate of Current Professional Status must be dated within three months of us receiving your application.

3. Signatures must match

Your signature in ‘Section 2: Declaration’ must match your passport signature. We will check your signature on your application is the same as your passport signature when you attend the ORE, to ensure they are the same.

4. Certificate of Current Professional Status

We require a Certificate of Current Professional Status (CCPS) from the dental regulator in the country where:

  • you qualified, and
  • where you last worked as a dentist.

We only require one CCPS if it is the same country. 

We cannot accept a letter of good standing or a CCPS from a university or dental association. If you cannot provide a CCPS from the dental regulator, you must provide a letter from the regulator stating the reasons why and an affidavit. We will consider this information with your application. 

Providing a CCPS is a mandatory requirement and any exception for special circumstances e.g. you are a refugee, needs to be considered by the Examinations team on a case by case basis.

5. Certified copies of passports and certificates

You must provide certified copies of your passport and degree certificate (primary qualification) as described in the application guidelines. We can only accept certified copies where:

  • Details on the document can be read. 
  • It is a copy of an original document (not a copy of copy). 
  • Certified to confirm that it is a true copy of the original.
  • The person certifying includes their name, signature and address. 

The person who certifies your copies must be either a: 

  • Notary public. 
  • Commissioner of Oaths. 
  • Justice of the Peace or another person entitled to practise law. 
  • An authorised officer of an embassy or consulate. 

You cannot certify your own documents, and the person certifying cannot be a family member or UK registered dental professional. 

6. Provide a statement of comparability

The UK ENIC compares overseas and UK qualifications.

You must provide a statement of comparability from UK ENIC along with your degree certificate. We do not accept UK ENIC certificates.
