Supporting the dental team - a guide for managers and employers
The General Dental Council (GDC) registers and regulates dental professionals (dentists, dental nurses, dental hygienists, dental therapists, dental technicians, clinical dental technicians, orthodontic therapists) in the UK. Some contractors, employers and managers of dental professionals are not required to register with the GDC but play a significant role in supporting the dental team to maintain high standards of professionalism and ensure a continuous focus on patient safety.
We appreciate that as contractors, employers and managers, you must give careful consideration to both business and patients’ interests. Although it is not in the GDC’s remit to advise on how to run a successful business, the information on these pages is intended to assist you with supporting dental professionals in working together as a well-trained, motivated and competent dental team delivering safe, high-quality care to patients. Unless otherwise noted, the information provided here does not form part of the GDC’s statutory guidance.
These pages will be updated periodically with new and revised information. We encourage you to get in touch with any feedback you may have, or to let us know where additional resources or clarification from the GDC would be helpful.
