Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Like every organisation, we have an equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) policy. We take EDI seriously. We live it, we breathe it, we mean it.

We’re supportive and inclusive. We know that if you feel valued and respected for who you are and what you contribute, you will give us your best. This benefits us as it means that you will give the best possible service to our registrants and the members of the public who turn to us for help and advice.

We are committed to providing equal opportunities to all and to ensuring that our workforce is as diverse and inclusive as the communities we represent. Our decisions about recruitment, training, promotion, internal and external opportunities are based on ability, capability and potential, not your ethnicity, your gender, race, religion, whether or not you are pregnant, whether or not you are married or in a civil partnership, your beliefs or sexual orientation or whether you have a disability. You matter. It is your skills and abilities that are important to us.

We want you to develop to your fullest potential with us and we guarantee that during your journey with us, you will be treated with dignity and respect. We are completely opposed to any form of unfair or unlawful discrimination and if it is found, we deal with it severely.

We have an EDI strategy which outlines how important EDI is to us and how we plan to develop our EDI commitments in the future. If you would like a copy, please contact us and we will get a copy to you.

If you have any questions about EDI within the General Dental Council, please call us or email us at edi@gdc-uk.org and we will be more than happy to discuss your questions with you.
