How to register with us once you have qualified in the UK
To practise as a dentist or dental care professional in the UK you are required to be registered with us. It is illegal to practise dentistry until you have registered and been issued with a GDC registration number.
You can apply for registration online via eGDC by selecting 'Apply to register'
Please note, you will be asked to complete the route to registration questionnaire.
Documents required
You must provide a certified photocopy of one of the following as evidence of your identity:
- a valid passport
- a valid photocard driving licence
- a valid ID card issued by the armed forces, or
- a valid EEA ID card.
Proof of qualification
You must provide certified copies of your qualifications.
You must provide a character reference. (If qualifying as a dentist, this would normally be completed by the head of your dental school).
How long will it take to be registered?
Please remember that you cannot practise until you have been registered and been issued with a GDC registration number.
If we have all the documents requested it should take up to 10 working days to assess your application.
Once registered you must have professional indemnity in place to practise in the UK.
Once you are registered you must undertake continuing professional development to ensure your knowledge and skills are up to date.
Fees apply for processing your application for registration. In addition, there is an annual registration fee.
