The Dentists Act 1984 is an Act of Parliament that establishes the General Dental Council as the regulatory body responsible for overseeing dental professionals in the UK. It outlines requirements for the registration of dental professionals and in respect of their professional conduct and makes provision to ensure that high standards in dental education and training are maintained.
