Dr Helen Phillips
Helen holds a portfolio of non-executive positions that embrace professional standards and the role of regulator. Her experience spans healthcare, legal services, insurance, the environment and higher education.
She currently chairs the Chartered Insurance Institute that sets professional standards for 125,000 insurance and financial management planning professionals worldwide. As former Chair of the Legal Services Board, the oversight regulator of the legal sector in England and Wales, she had responsibility for oversight of ten frontline legal regulators.
Helen is currently a Commissioner at the Gambling commission, and was previously a founding Non Executive Director of Social Work England, as well as Chair of Chesterfield NHS Foundation Trust. Helen has also chaired NHS Professionals Ltd, a DHSC owned company that provides 130,000 professional bank staff to the NHS.
As a former senior regulator for the environment, with both the Environment Agency and Natural England, Helen is now Senior Independent Director at the Environmental Services Association that is the trade body for the waste to energy operators.
